#30- Confidence vs Arrogance - Know the difference to show the difference
Wednesday Apr 28, 2021
Wednesday Apr 28, 2021
On this episode of A Brothers Creed Podcast we speak about the benefits of being confident and the harm it can have when taken to the point of arrogance. Sometimes too much of a good thing can lead to something harmful. We define, discuss and give examples of both of these traits. From the confidence of having knowledge to Hitler's arrogance in war, we find the line or the balance between the two. We speak through some tactics to become more confident and how to not come across as arrogant. Sometimes we do not notice that we are being arrogant but in this episode we talk about how to identify it and fix it. Come along with us as we build our Creeds and act more confidently.
Quotes from the Brothers:
“Confidence is the building block for progression. You do not have to know everything but be willing to learn and become great. Never be ashamed of your weaknesses but be hopeful and optimistic in your ability to learn and achieve”
- Ethan Thomas
"Walking the thin line of arrogance and confidence can carefully be done by leaning upon the Lord in humility and faith. If we trust in the lord and are honest with ourselves we will avoid the sin of pride that transforms confidence into arrogance."
- Jared Thomas

On this episode of A Brother's Creed Podcast we speak with Terry Cook who has been in the life insurance industry for 30+ years. Terry is also the author of several books and a successful part time real estate investor. We start the episode by discussing the various types of life insurance and what generally how each works. Following this conversation, we dive into this concept of being your own banker. Terry talks about how he has used his high cash value Whole life insurance policy to not only fund his real estate investments but to also take advantage of several other benefits that owning a policy offers (called riders). Having long term care insurance, additional medical insurance, and other add-ons to a policy can prove worthwhile. The decision to purchase life insurance requires a long-term mentality and may involve some uncomfortable thoughts of what may happen if you or your spouse died, Terry advises it is best to think of those things now. Terry also walks us through some of the joys and pains he has gone through with his unique style of investing in real estate. In the end Terry shares some words of wisdom from a lifelong career in the finance industry on how we can set ourselves up for success.
